AmazonIQ GPT: Ask Better Questions About Your Authorized Amazon Seller Data
A practical guide to the current read-only AmazonIQ GPT operations, their context, their limits, and a better way to investigate seller questions.
Amazon sellers rarely lack questions. The harder problem is finding the right evidence, keeping the marketplace and period straight, and knowing whether a number is actual, estimated, delayed or unavailable. AmazonIQ GPT provides a conversational way to investigate supported seller-authorized data without turning the conversation into an uncontrolled Amazon session.
The GPT uses current AmazonIQ Actions to request only the data supported by the existing read-only implementation. It does not see every Seller Central screen, it does not read the AmazonIQ Dashboard, and it does not interpret rendered Dashboard cards. Its answers should remain grounded in the operation, marketplace, region, period, source and availability state returned for the authenticated AmazonIQ user.
An independent conversational investigation experience
AmazonIQ GPT connects to AmazonIQ through its own OAuth-protected Actions. After the user authorizes GPT access, each Action resolves the exact AmazonIQ user and the server-owned active Amazon workspace. The GPT can then ask the implemented read-only service for a bounded result. The browser does not supply a seller identity, token, regional endpoint or arbitrary connection.
This path is independent from the Dashboard. The Dashboard does not feed data into AmazonIQ GPT, and AmazonIQ GPT does not read the Dashboard. Both may use the same seller-authorized AmazonIQ connection and active workspace, but neither depends on the other being open.
What the current GPT can investigate
The current verified operations cover connection and marketplace status, seller overview, order headers and items, sales metrics, financial transactions and settlement views, current and competitive pricing, catalog product evidence, optional product fee estimates, FBA inventory, listing discovery and listing issues, inventory movements, storage and aged inventory, returns, reimbursements, selected seller-performance data, capability coverage and a bounded multi-source investigation.
Some operations return direct Amazon data. Others return a capability status or an owned asynchronous report result. Partial success is intentional: one unavailable dataset does not erase another result that Amazon returned successfully. Empty, pending, role-limited and marketplace-limited states remain distinct from a successful dataset containing zero.
Focused questions and useful follow-ups
A strong question names the business subject and enough context to choose the correct operation. A seller might ask which non-pending orders included a particular SKU, how ordered sales changed between two bounded periods, which listings contain returned errors, how FBA quantities are distributed, or which reimbursement records Amazon returned for a selected period.
Follow-up questions can narrow the marketplace, period, ASIN, SKU, fulfillment state or report view. The GPT should preserve the previous evidence only as conversational context, not as authority to switch a regional Amazon connection. The AmazonIQ website remains the source of truth for the active regional workspace.
Use it from a computer or phone, in your preferred language
AmazonIQ GPT runs through the ChatGPT experience, so an authorized user can continue a focused investigation from a computer or phone. The seller can communicate in a preferred language while operation names, identifiers, currencies and returned Amazon values retain their precise meaning.
Language convenience does not change authorization or coverage. The user must still be signed in to ChatGPT, connected to AmazonIQ, and associated with an active seller workspace. A cross-region question may require the user to select the intended workspace on the AmazonIQ website before asking again.
Why authorized context can be stronger than isolated screenshots
Screenshots remain useful for showing exactly what a person saw and for discussing visual layout or a point-in-time warning. They can also omit filters, hidden rows, pagination, currency, marketplace, period or later changes. When relevant authorized data is already available through AmazonIQ, the GPT can investigate that structured context without requiring the user to repeatedly upload isolated Seller Central screenshots.
That does not make screenshots obsolete or make AmazonIQ complete. A screenshot may still be the right evidence for a screen-specific issue. The better practice is to identify what each source proves, compare compatible periods and definitions, and avoid filling a gap with an assumption.
Context, provenance and actual versus estimated values
A returned value is useful only when its context is understandable. AmazonIQ operations preserve the applicable marketplace, region, currency, period, freshness, source and capability status. Unlike currencies should not be silently combined. Ordered sales and financial transactions can use different event dates, so they may not reconcile over the same requested period.
Product fee values are estimates, not charged fees. Amazon net proceeds are not profit because COGS, advertising and other external expenses are not part of standard seller financial transactions. The GPT should state these distinctions instead of turning an available amount into a broader claim.
Current limits and Dashboard-only depth
The current GPT does not have explicit Actions for the complete Product 360 join, Product Type requirements, Listings Restrictions, Featured Offer Expected Price, Customer Voice, Seller Feedback, Promotion Performance, inbound box inspection or inbound item inspection. Those are live Dashboard capabilities, but they should not be advertised as current GPT parity. The generic investigation operation does not add those missing schemas.
Amazon Ads uses a separate authorization and product path. Coupon Performance, Data Kiosk, restricted tax datasets, Vendor APIs, live Notifications, buyer PII, raw buyer-review content and seller write actions are not current GPT capabilities. Coverage also varies by account, marketplace, approved role, program eligibility and what Amazon returns.
Read-only and privacy boundaries
AmazonIQ GPT cannot change prices, listings, inventory, orders, fulfillment settings or buyer messages. It does not create shipments, request feedback or perform account remediation. Recommendations remain suggestions for the seller to verify and carry out through Seller Central or another authorized process.
The public Action responses exclude stored refresh tokens, access tokens, authorization headers, signed report URLs, buyer names, buyer email addresses, delivery addresses, payment information and unknown raw Amazon fields. The GPT is an investigation surface, not a channel for exposing restricted account data.
A practical GPT investigation checklist
Use a short operating rhythm: identify the active workspace, ask one bounded question, inspect the returned status and source, ask a focused follow-up, and verify the evidence before deciding. If a result is pending or unavailable, keep that state visible instead of substituting a guess.
- Confirm the active region and marketplace on AmazonIQ.
- Name the product, period or business event you want to investigate.
- Keep currencies, event dates and actual-versus-estimated labels visible.
- Treat empty, pending, role-limited and unsupported results differently.
- Verify material decisions against Seller Central and business records.
- Make approved account changes outside AmazonIQ through an authorized workflow.
Begin with the question that costs you time
The most useful starting point is a real recurring investigation: a confusing fee movement, a listing issue, a period change, an FBA quantity or a returned performance signal. Ask narrowly, follow the evidence and keep the limitations attached to the answer.
NAVINES welcomes feedback about the Amazon seller questions that take the most time to investigate. That feedback can guide future reviewed capabilities without pretending that unsupported operations are already available.
